Free Guidance – The use of representatives in SEND cases

Free Guidance – The use of representatives in SEND cases

Parents, advocates and lawyers have co-produced a guidance document – which can be downloaded here – for families to use when deciding if they need a representative, what type of representative they need and who specifically to use.

The area of SEND law has seen a considerable increase in representatives over the last few years, with a wide range of advocates, consultants and lawyers all offering support to families. Many professionals across the sector have grown concerned about the quality of some of the advice that is being provided. This concern has been echoed by the SEND Tribunal.

In that context, it is hoped that this guidance will assist in providing families with an understanding of what kind of representative, if any, they might want to consider and how to go about selecting a particular person to help.
